Newspaper heading down a slippery slope

| July 24, 2012 9:00 PM

The article about county workplace morale in a recent Bonner County Daily Bee cited anonymous sources, didn’t verify cheap shot accusations, and uttered a disclaimer about having been pressured into giving a small group of mouthy malcontents a voice!

This type of irresponsible blather may have its place on the blogs, but not printed in a respectable newspaper of the county. So it is that, “Doctors bury their mistakes, architects cover them with vines, but journalists put theirs on the front page!”

Anyone with an agenda can sneak around and acquire plenty of “anonymous” grousing from any workplace, the Bee included.

If Marie Scott spent as much time doing her job as she does stirring up rancor in the ranks, she might be able to present accurate and timely reports to the county. If the Bee really wants to get serious about journalism, they should investigate Scott’s bookkeeping.

Meanwhile, our dedicated, hard-working, fiscally responsible commissioners have much more important matters to deal with than Scott’s whining, innuendos and lack of cooperation. With such obviously divisive games being played by Ms. Scott, let us hope local coverage will take a more professional tack and steer towards facts.
