Why does bridge look so shabby?

I was driving back north from Hayden and coming over the Long Bridge into Sandpoint. This bridge is the gateway to Sandpoint and is disgraceful looking, the road needs to be swept and the road barriers need to be painted.

I do not know who is responsible for the upkeep of this bridge, the state or the city but someone has to step up to the plate and fix this disgrace.

I’m a local and noticed this, what does this say to out-of-towners — we don’t care what it looks like?
