Obama ignorant of basic economics

| July 31, 2012 7:00 AM

We are becoming painfully aware that our president is ignorant of some of the most basic economic principles.

If you have read either of his books, you know that he despises free market capitalism. Unfortunately, there are many bureaucrats and politicians that share that emotion. However, his failure to understand how government actually works is rather important. In his recent Ronoake, Va., speech, he said, “If you own a successful business, you didn’t get there on your own, you went to a government school and used roads and bridges to get there.”

This Harvard “educated” community organizer is ignorant of the fact that we taxpayers paid for 100 percent of those schools, roads and bridges, not the government. He fails to understand that the government has no capital until it takes it away from the taxpayers. He claims that he can spend our way to prosperity. There is no historical evidence that this has ever succeeded and it defies common sense. To form his fatefully flawed government philosophy he had to study European history and it’s socialistic and financial failure. It’s hardened class system and lifelong welfare dependence leaves little to be desired, but he decided that this was his planned future for America.

Oh, and one other little ignored piece of history. Starting at zero in 1776, the United States, applying free market capitalism, rose to be the most successful and powerful force in the history of mankind, in only 236 years. Funny that a supposedly intelligent history instructor would ignore that.
