Commissioners have done their jobs lawfully

| June 3, 2012 7:00 AM

According to Idaho law, Idaho Code (31-802) gives Bonner County commissioners the right (note right) as supervisors for all elected officials.

Now what is a supervisor. According to Webster’s dictionary: a person who supervises: superintendent; manager; director. Then we ask; what is supervise: to oversee or direct (work, workers, a project, etc.); superintend.

Now where have the Bonner County commissioners not done their job?

Reduced health costs by $100,000/year by changing the broker who had been a provider for 64 years. Are they not to direct work and workers to save taxpayers excessive taxes?

How about the increase in salary for starting deputies making wages competitive so Bonner County Sheriff’s Office is no longer a training ground but a fully staffed BCSO.

Well let’s see how about the audit issue? Again the law Idaho Code (31-1701 and 67-450BO). The new external auditor now reports to the commissioners. Again the findings $2.5 million (that’s millions) in accounting errors that were revealed by the new audit firm. Part of the audit report showed a building as a $358,229 as an asset. But it had been sold many years ago.

For change to come, the law is the final say. Not the issue or the issues.

Can we say to those who have an issue review the law not take a personal attack on those who are obeying the law.
