Obama's investments were poorly chosen

| June 3, 2012 7:00 AM

In spite of well-written letters, Bruce Johnson and Lou Goodness come to mind, Steven Drinkard received space as opinion to bemoan no facts regarding our food stamp president’s mental attitude. OK, ready? (Letters are limited to 250 words)

Facts: The “green navy” sails this summer thanks to Obama trying to emulate Teddy’s Great White Navy, which sailed around the world to show off U.S. power. The green is biofuel costing $16 per gallon, made from cooking oil and algae. This is for diesel and jet fuel for ships and aircraft! Usual costs are $4 per gallon. Approved by the Secretary of Navy whose paycheck is signed by Obama. Contract is for 450,000 gallons, translates to $5.4 million more than usual (money we don’t have).

Solar energy: Solyndra, Enerl and others receiving subsidies are bankrupt! Solaicx, Porthland, $21.5 million “created” 66 jobs, $325,758 per job. Evergreen, $50 million subsidy, outsourced jobs to China as cheaper.

United Solar, Battle Creek, Mich., $96.6 million for 350 jobs ($270,000 per job). First Solar, U.S., on stock market at $165/ share last year, now $13/ share (fabulous Obama investment of 92 percent loss). Germany stopped solar subsidies, too expensive for electricity.

Wind: Holland, first European country to abandon wind turbines, ridiculously expensive. United Kingdom, 8£300 million British pounds for wind energy, destroyed 3.7 jobs for every green created.

Chevy Volt, “electric car,” 35 miles per charge, needs really long extension cord, $41,000 but gets subsidy of $7,500 of taxpayers’ money. Apparently has a small gas motor, but Obama drove one off the assembly line 10 feet (photo op) and declared it a great all-electric car. (Nobody’s buying it)

Hope, no; change, yes.

Our community organizer president never studied business.
