| June 13, 2012 7:00 AM

SANDPOINT — The Sandpoint Volleyball Club U15 team has been training hard for the upcoming Junior Olympics on July 3 in Columbus, Ohio, eager to continue a tradition of excellence in a town known for its volleyball.

They’ve also been busy trying to raise the requisite funds to make the once-in-a-lifetime trip possible. To help with the cost of the trip, the team has two fundraisers on tap.

First, there will be another car wash this Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at American West Bank (605 N. 5th Ave.). If your car is dirty, don’t miss the opportunity to get is shining like brand new while supporting local athletes.

Second, there will be a beer and wine tasting event and auction on Friday, June 22 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at The Lodge at Sandpoint (across the Long Bridge). Local beverages will be served during the social event, and there will also be silent bidding on a host of donated auction items.

Tickets are available at Mountainwest Bank in Sandpoint or Ponderay locations.
