Hepperly, Warriors season ends
DILLON, Mont. — Former Sandpoint basketball and soccer player Chris Hepperly scored two points to go with an assist and a rebound in limited minutes, as the Lewis-Clark State College men’s basketball team lost to Montana Western 78-56 in the Frontier Conference playoff opener on Tuesday night.
Hepperly, a 5-10 sophomore guard who transferred to Lewis-Clark from Grossmont Junior College, had a solid season, playing in 17 games and scoring in double figures four times. In one two-game stretch, Hepperly drained 6-9 shots from beyond the arc.
The Warriors finished 16-13 overall, and Hepperly made 22 of 50 field goals, grabbed 14 boards and dished 11 assists on the season.
As a senior at Sandpoint, Hepperly averaged 14 points per game and made the All-Inland Empire team, before taking a few years off before returning to college.

HAVRE, Mont. — Former Sandpoint basketball player Ben Mitchell scored 11 points on 5-10 shooting, to go with three rebounds and two steals to lead Montana Northern to a 72-57 win over Montana Tech in the opening round of the Frontier Conference Championships Tuesday night.
The No. 21 Lights began defense of their Frontier Conference championship by thumping the talented Orediggers, as Mitchell continues to provide valuable minutes off the bench. He had two key put backs in the second half that blew the game open.
It was a solid start to the Frontier playoffs for the Lights (25-6), who will now play rival Great Falls on Friday night at 7 p.m. in Havre.
