Politics, free cookies and good conversation

| March 1, 2012 6:00 AM

I am a member of the local Sandpoint Patriots. We have a meeting (usually) every third Thursday of the month in the Panhandle Health Building at 322 Marion in Sandpoint. I would like to offer an invitation to anyone interested in attending. This invitation is for all political parties.

Our group consists mostly of conservatives or constitutionalists. We are dedication to the principals of individual liberty, personal responsibility, private property rights, free markets, and limited government.

Other than these basic concepts, we are a varied group. Some of us are religious, some of us aren’t. Some of us are social conservatives, and some of us social liberals. But we seem to get along pretty well.

It seems in the last couple of decades, our society has changed, and for some reason we only talk to those that agree with us. To truly become an intelligent voter, we need to listen to other opinions. Please feel free to attend, and see if we have anything to say that interests you. Or you may have something to say that interests us.

If we want someone to listen, we have to be willing to listen. We can all feel frustration when we have people that won’t agree with us, but none of us are always right, and none of us are always wrong. Maybe we will just agree to disagree, but at least we all respectfully listened.

Oh, an additional important factor, we usually have cookies! My name is Mike Nash, please accept my personal invitation. Our meetings are at 7 p.m.
