Gralow places 12th at Big 10 Championships
SANDPOINT — Former Sandpoint swimmer Paulina Gralow wrapped up her junior campaign at the University of Wisconsin with a 12th place finish in the 100 breaststroke and a 14th place finish in the 200 breaststroke at the Big 10 Championships recently.
Last year Gralow finished 16th in the 100 breast and 17th in the 200, improving three spots in each event as a junior in the highly-competitive Big 10 conference. Gralow was one of four Badger breaststroke swimmers to capture an NCAA “B” qualifying time.
The Badgers finished fourth as a team in the Big 10, improving three spots from the previous year, and will send 11 swimmers to the NCAA championships starting March 15 in Alabama. Gralow just missed qualifying for the nationals.
Gralow was a 2011 Academic All-Big 10 selection, and was a four-time Idaho state 100 meter breaststroke state champion while swimming for Mike Brosnahan at Sandpoint.
