Farber earns second most votes on All-PASL team
SANDPOINT — Former Sandpoint, North Idaho College, Oregon State and Portland Timbers soccer standout Brian Farber was named to the first team of the All-Professional Arena Soccer League team this week after another stellar indoor season.
Farber, who finished fourth in the PASL with 44 points (27 goals 17 assists), finished second in voting with seven first team and four second team selections. The speedy midfielder played a substantial roll in helping the San Diego Sockers (21-0, 16-0 PASL) during a perfect season, as the team is riding an unbelievable 34 game winning streak.
Farber was one of four Sockers to earn a spot on the team. Teammate Kraig Chiles was named the league’s Most Valuable Player after scoring a PASL record 46 goals, many coming from assists by Farber.
The PASL season concludes with the battle for the Ron Newman Cup in Del Mar on Friday and Saturday night. The Sockers are the top seed and will host the Kansas Magic (9-8) in the semi-finals at 7:30 p.m.tonight at the Del Mar Arena. Detroit Waza (14-3) will face Revolucion Tijuana (11-6) in the other semi-final at 5 p.m. The Ron Newman Cup Championship will take place Saturday at 7 p.m. The Sockers semi-final and the championship game will be streamed online at 619Sports.Net.
The Sockers are also slated to play in the U.S. Open Final, on March 17 against the Cincinnati Kings.
