Berkley named to All-North Star League team
CLARK FORK — Clark Fork senior Stillman Berkley was a leader in every sense of the word for the Wampus Cat boys basketball team this season, and this week he was awarded with a spot on the All-North Star League team, as voted on by the league’s coaches.
Berkley averaged 11 points and five rebounds a game on the season, bumping it up to 17 per game in the district tournament, and earned the fourth most votes on the all-league team.
While the numbers are solid, they don’t tell the tale for the versatile player, who always stuffed the stat sheet with blocks, steals, assists and rebounds. He played point guard, even though it’s not his natural position, because it gave the team the best chance to win.
“He’s a great kid on and off the court, one of those guys that will do anything for you. We’ll miss him,” said Cats head coach Corey Vogel, who coached Berkley for four straight years. “He’s just a leader who wants to win. If I had five Stillmans on my team, we’d be making noise at the state tournament.”
