We need to return to train limit
My former neighbor Jim Wolfe, who was in his late 80s when he passed away a couple of years ago, was born and raised on our street where he lived all of his life told me that way back years ago the politicos of Bonner County passed a law that would only allow 15 trains a day to come through Bonner County.
The trains could only operate between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. and could not have more then 15 cars per train. Now folks are concerned about the coal being shipped through here and the possibility of more coal train shipments which would increase coal dust and all of the toxic pollutants spewing out of those huge diesel engines in the locomotives.
Maybe some bright soul could go back through old Bonner County records and find that law that would only allow 15 trains a day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. with no more then 15 cars per train and present that to the railroads.
Wouldn’t that set the railroad companies back on their heels? It would sure make living in Bonner County much better without all of those pollutants from the 50-plus trains a day that pass through Bonner County and engineers blaring their horns all through the night into the wee hours of the mornings.
