Currie leads Sandpoint golfers in season opener
CLARKSTON, Wash. — Sophomore David Currie fired a 91 to lead the Sandpoint boys golf team during the season opener on Monday at the Clarkston Invitational at the Clarkston Country Club.
Christian Cook shot a 104 and Jared Presnell a 105 for the Bulldogs, who not only were playing their first rounds of the season, but had to face wind, cold and extremely fast and undulating greens.
“Our biggest problem was inconsistency and too many penalty strokes,” said head coach Tom Tharp, who expected some early season rust. “Not too bad for the first day out for them.”
Noah Faude shot 114 and Tyson Bird 128 to round out the boys team, while Anna Aylward shot a 126 as the lone Sandpoint girl.
The Bulldogs will look to shave some more strokes at the Lewiston Invitational on Monday at Bryden Canyon Country Club.
