Wishing Star goes on hiatus

SANDPOINT — The local chapter of Wishing Star is going on hiatus while it restructures, according to Audrey Reid.

“Wishing Star is not out of the picture,” said Reid, a Wishing Star volunteer.

Reid said the local chapter’s annual tradition of raffling off a automotive-theme quilt during Lost in the 50s will continue this year. Volunteers will be selling raffle tickets to raise funds to grant wishes to sick children in the community.

“It will be business as usual on the car quilt,” said Reid.

However, the quilt raffle will likely be the last fundraiser for the current local chapter. Reid said news on the new configuration of the local chapter will be released in the coming months.

Reid expressed thanks to the volunteers who devoted countless hours of hard work and energy to brighten the days for kids struggling with serious illnesses.

“Also, a big ‘thank you’ to our community and businesses who have never failed us in supporting our mission,” she said.
