SANDPOINT — The soggy weather dousing the region continues to wreak havoc on Bonner County roads.

Washouts, water over the road and mudslides abounded on Friday, according to Bonner County Emergency Management Director Bob Howard.

“It was a pretty busy morning,” said Howard.

A washout rendered part of Merril Martin Road in Sagle impassible, although there are no residents behind the closure. A washout chewed into Gold Creek Road, but there are other routes motorists can use to bypass the closure.

Water over the road was reported on U.S. Highway 95 near McArthur Lake, Center Valley Road, Sportsman’s Access Road in Cocolalla, Evergreen Road, South Center Valley Road, Colburn Culver Road, Upper Gold Creek Road, North Riley Creek Road and West Elmira Road, according to Howard.

Washouts were reported on Geenan, Snow Valley and Snider’s roads. Mudslides were reported on Rapid Lightning, Talache, East River and Eastshore roads.

“We had a very large mudslide, but it’s been cleared,” Howard said of the slide on Eastshore Road.

Howard said a sinkhole developed on Crooked Ear Court.

There was one report of a home in Elmira being inundated with flood water, Howard said.
