Register GOP, vote for common sense
For many Bonner County Democrats and independents, good local government trumps party affiliation. That’s why we have registered — or soon will register — as Republicans so we can vote in that party’s Republican primary on May 15.
We know this is the election that really matters. Candidates who prevail in May are highly likely to be elected in November. Redistricting has taken some of us out of District 1, so we are unable to vote for the highly capable incumbents, Sen. Shawn Keough, Reps. George Eskridge and Eric Anderson.
All of us, however, can help to end the dysfunction that now plagues Bonner County Commission. Cary Kelly is highly respected for his leadership ability, which changed the culture of the county’s Marine Division from strictly law enforcement to a community-service emphasis. He saved taxpayer money through better management and successful grant-writing. He has a proven track record and the skills and temperament necessary to bring people together, not drive them apart.
Joyce Broadsword took her common sense approach to the state legislature and for eight years served her constituents very well. She is an excellent alternative to the extreme views now making mischief - and wasting taxpayer dollars - in the county commission.
Democrats and Independents, you are not disenfranchised. Register Republican and vote May 15 to keep our leaders in the state legislature and restore common sense to our county commission.
