Leadership Sandpoint hosts Cinco de Mayo celebration

SANDPOINT — Leadership Sandpoint’s current class, a program of the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce, is back at it again with its second Cinco de Mayo fundraising party.

The event will be held from 5-9 p.m. Saturday at Trinity at City Beach. The celebration is sponsored by Litehouse Foods.

Leadership Sandpoint is preparing lots of fun while Trinity at City Beach’s staff is preparing a special Cinco de Mayo food menu and drink specials. The funds raised will impact the various Leadership Sandpoint programs, including the Future Leaders of America Today- the Chamber’s Youth Leadership Program, and benefit local charities.

How can you show support for Leadership Sandpoint? Show up, buy drinks, buy dinner and buy raffle tickets! There are two raffles taking place and the grand prize for one of them is a wheelbarrow full of bottles of liquor. Tickets are 1 for $5 and 5 for $20 and will be available at the event.

Leadership Sandpoint is a program of the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce which identifies leaders in the greater Sandpoint area and provides them an interactive experience to gain an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a citizen-leader in our multi-faceted community. The program aids participants in developing an information base of local history, resources and key issues facing our surrounding communities. It is their responsibility to have at least one cause or charity which they support and to do one physical project. This year’s class has many causes they support, including Northside Elementary’s Garden project, the Blue Haven House and the Circles Initiative, and put on the very successful Jail & Bail Fundraiser at the new Juvenile Detention Center with the help of their staff.
