Rich is sensible conservative

| May 4, 2012 7:00 AM

I am voting for Lewis Rich for Bonner County commissioner because he is a sensible conservative.

Ask yourself, do you want elected officials, like Sage Dixon, who think they are qualified to be the sole interpreter of the U.S. Constitution? Everyone follows the U.S. Constitution because it’s the law of the land, but we defer to the U.S. Supreme Court to have the final say in its interpretation. Do we really need the U.S. Constitution interpreted for us by local self-appointed experts? Or do we need a sensible conservative like Lewis Rich who focuses on local issues like roads and property taxes and job creation?

Do we need the creation of another taxpayer paid position for the Property Rights Council as supported by Cary Kelly? We would all agree that personal property rights are important but what role should our county government play in opposing actions involving private citizens against the federal government? Is getting in a fight with the federal government a good use of local taxpayer monies? I say no.

We need a sensible conservative like Lewis Rich Rich who realizes that tax money is scarce and should be used for expenditures that benefit all the citizens of Bonner County and not to be spent on the few citizens who are in conflict with federal agencies.

If you want sensible government then vote for a sensible conservative. Vote for Lewis Rich.
