Voters shouldn't reward incumbent insouciance
As a relative newcomer to North Idaho, I do not know the conscience of our elected officials. Do they really support the elimination of the 17th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution — and thereby the elimination of the citizens’ right to vote for their senators? Do they place more faith in the U.S. Constitution than in the Bible?
Common sense leads me to feel that if the candidates resort to evasiveness, dismissiveness and/or derisiveness about these or any other questions asked of them, instead of open and honest dialogue about what they are for or against, with clearly stated specifics, then they do not want their true positions known by the voters. Common sense says that anyone instructing their children to be honest and fair should suspect elected officials who act otherwise.
