Fear is the word for the right wing

| May 9, 2012 7:00 AM

Fear is the word of the day for the right wing. Constitutionalists, tea party and certain religious affiliations preach daily that we should fear government, gay and lesbians and any social program.

George Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld are the reasons we are in the financial crisis we are today, not Social Security and Medicare or any other government program. If we just took the money we have paid Dick Cheney’s company, Haliburton during the Iraq War and put that to use in our country we wouldn’t have most of the financial problems we have now.

Government oversight on big business went away or was so corrupt during the Bush years that it cost the taxpayers billions of dollars. Just look at the recent fraud case in Medicare. Billions of dollars of false claims submitted by doctors, hospitals, and pharmacies. This situation did not just start, it’s been going on for years. Take away government oversight and who benefits?

Current campaign adds show Republican candidates supporting right to life, the Second Amendment and less government, more freedom. We are the government, we need to exercise more control over it.

Right to life — to quote Jim Croce, “you say you love the baby, then you crucify the man.”

NRA — if they did not keep the gun control issue alive, with distortions and untruths where would they be?

I would like to see candidates that have common sense not party causes. Fight for our best interests not your party’s agenda.
