Frazier nabs berth at state
LAPWAI — Freshman Megan Frazier finished 4th in the 3,200 to lead Clark Fork at the 16-team 1A District 1-2 track championships on Saturday at Lapwai High School.
Frazier will be the lone Wampus Cat at the state track tournament this weekend, where head coach Frank Hammersley hopes she can improve on the personal best 13:04 she clocked in Lapwai and contend for a medal.
“If she puts everything together and runs the race she needs to run, she’ll be close to a medal,” said Hammersley of Frazier’s first trip to state. “I’d like to see her enjoy herself, have fun and maybe she can come back with a medal.”
Freshman Brandon Bowen set a personal best in the 400 and freshman Becca Holderman a personal best in the 100 and each narrowly missed making it to state.
Sophomore John Regalia set personal bests in the both the shot and discus, and sophomore Danielle Lowry passed her best mark in the discus after just having a cast on her foot removed.
Hammersley is excited about the future of a very young Wampus Cat nucleus.
