The library is not your babysitter

| May 15, 2012 7:00 AM

This is an open letter to the parents of high school and middle school students who allow their children to loiter at the public library.

On an average week day after school the library parking lot is inundated with 40-50 kids running around yelling profanity at each other and making it difficult for the people who want to use the library for its intended purpose.

As a working parent, I understand that you need a place for your children to go after school until you get home from work but this is not the place for that, nor is it a safe place judging by the amount of bullying going on that I have witnessed.

The staff at the library are already busy with their own duties and don’t need the added responsibility of baby sitting your kids for you.

One employee in particular seems to do nothing else but crowd control and dose not deserve the abusive language hurled at him on a daily basis. Please pay for your own child care.
