Propositions' price is too high for Idaho

| November 1, 2012 7:00 AM

The greatness of our nation was built on the belief that every child has a right to a free, equitable public education. Propositions 1, 2 and 3 take that right away from students, parents, teachers, and our local community. Students are our future and most precious resource yet Idaho nationally ranks 50th in per-pupil spending. In spite of dismal and inadequate school funding, consider only the facts of Idaho’s new $182 million, eight-year laptop contract with Hewlett-Packard: H-P retains title to all computers Idaho rents the computers BUT is liable for loss, damage, or theft

If a laptop is damaged, Idaho repairs it within 60 days at state expense.

If a laptop is stolen, Idaho must pay H-P for it Idaho contracted to pay $292.77 per computer per year-totaling $1,171 on four-year replacement schedule vote no on Propositions 1, 2 and 3.
