SANDPOINT — The Sandpoint Middle School wrestling team kicked off the 2012 season Monday with a match in Bonners Ferry that also included Priest River. It was good start to the season as the Bullpups were 24-7, with 21-wins coming by way of fall.

“We wrestled pretty well all through our lineup from the little to big. Even our kids that had never wrestled before showed good aggressiveness once they got over those first match ever jitters,” said SMS wrestling coach Dick Ross.

Wrestlers posting two or more wins in the match were: Gage Sigman, Tanner Kohal, Scout Nash, Levi Irish, Owen Stebbins, Casey Randles, Brock Browning, Zack Alamillo, Tyrone Larson and Ethan Fogg.

Special recognition goes to Gage Sigman, who wrestled four matches and lost two in overtime against some very seasoned competition. Also the Bullpup big guys Tyrone Larson and Ethan Fogg pinned both of their opponents in their first ever matches.

The Bullpups resume action on Tuesday, Nov. 13 in Post Falls against River City Middle School and Woodland Middle School. Action begins at 4 p.m.
