Hug the loggers, not the trees

| November 13, 2012 6:00 AM

Loggers. Have you ever heard anything good about them in the last several decades?

I haven’t, but I am sure thankful for them!

The American dream of owning a home was made possible by loggers. Regardless of where you live, open your eyes and look around. The very structure of your home — walls, ceiling, floor, cabinets, etc. — was made possible by loggers.

You should thank the loggers, not destroy them.

If you enjoy seeing deer, elk, black bear, birds and wildlife — plus wildflowers, berries, brush, young evergreen trees reaching for the sky — thank loggers. Also thank them for the general greenery, clean and clear water in the creeks with fish.

Forest fires! I think that 99 percent of them are started by lightning strikes. You could get to them a lot quicker and have a better chance at putting them out if you could get to them on a logging road. Yes!

What happened? The environmental movement, animal rights activists, tree huggers, etc. I think they believe in the propaganda that’s behind those movements so much that they would rather destroy than preserve nature.

They are told something and they believe it without any thought.

What they all need to do is stop and think! Maybe that is a thing of the past, too. Think for yourselves.
