Man arrested in shooting incident
SANDPOINT — A Bonner County man was arrested for opening fire on a vehicle containing two people on Sunday.
Andrew Keith Kohler is charged with two counts of aggravated assault. He made an initial court appearance in magistrate court on Tuesday, where his $20,000 bail was sustained. Judge Debra Heise also entered an order forbidding him from contacting the alleged victims in the case, court records show.
There were no injuries, although there was evidence that the vehicle sustained damage from gunfire, according to court documents.
Kohler, 48, initially denied firing on the vehicle or possessing the weapon in question, a probable cause affidavit said. However, he later admitted firing a “warning shot” that was meant to scare one of the occupants.
