Trio named to All-NSL team
CLARK FORK — Clark Fork senior outside hitter Mariah Miller, senior libero Heather Wold and junior setter Annie Wurm were each named to the All-North Star League volleyball team, as voted on recently by the league’s coaches.
Miller finished the season with a team-high 118 kills and 45 aces, and also tallied 56 digs. Her athleticism and desire on the court made her one of the most feared players in the league.
“She takes competition to heart and gives everything she’s got every game, and it definitely shows,” said Wampus Cats head coach Michelle Adams. “Her level of intensity is equal to or more than a college player.”
Wold tallied 75 digs and 16 service aces on the season, anchoring the Wampus Cat defense from the back line.
“She was probably the best defensive player in our league,” described Adams. “She took her position to heart and understood her place on the court. Her intensity and aggression could swing a match for us.”
Wurm finished the year with 319 assists, capably running the offense in her first year as varsity setter. Next year she figures to be one of the key leaders on the team.
“She really stepped up and filled a role,” said Adams, lauding her setter’s great hands. “Her fundamental ball handling was solid and she made some huge improvements.”
