| November 17, 2012 8:00 PM

COEUR d’ALENE — Hailey Jackson scored a game-high 18 points, including three 3-pointers in the third quarter, as the Lake City Timberwolves rallied to beat the Sandpoint Bulldogs in a nonleague girls basketball game on Friday night at Lake City High School.

Cassie Young scored 10 points to lead the Bulldogs (0-2), who after a sharp second quarter led the 5A Timberwolves 23-20 at halftime. Hailey Olin added eight points for the Bulldogs, who were outscored 17-4 in a pivotal third quarter.

“We just kind of picked up the pressure and started to be more patient,” Lake City coach Bryan Kelly said. “Our intensity was better and we kind of jumped on them and the girls responded well in the second half.”

Amber Hawkes had 10 points and 10 rebounds for Lake City (2-0).

The Bulldogs haven’t exactly had an easy start to the season, facing two of the the tougher 5A teams in the state right off the bat. Despite the tough openers, the Bulldogs have displayed the ability to hang with the bigger schools in stretches, which bodes well for the future.

Sandpoint hits the road to face 3A Timberlake today, with tip-off at 6 p.m.
