City's back-in parking doesn't make sense
Regarding the article: “Downtown street ideas unveiled.”
I can’t believe that anyone who has experienced the angled parking at Third and Cedar, would be contemplate putting in more of those parking spaces in town.
In the first place, they are angled backward for the flow of traffic, so anyone parking there has to pull into oncoming traffic to back in.
Secondly, if you’ve ever been in a city that has a lot of angled parking, they only do it if there are four lanes so they use one whole lane for the angled parking.
On Third Avenue, there is barely enough room for three lanes. We don’t need more parking on the streets. If it is a concern for the city, then put a second level on the city parking lot across from Merwin’s Hardware, just a thought.
