Obama took credit for other's actions

| October 9, 2012 7:00 AM

In letter (Daily Bee, Sept. 20), Mr. Ramsey lists “six very positive things” achieved by President Obama.

First, he “put the brakes on an economy spiraling out of control.” No brakes, just accelerator. The national debt increased more than $6 trillion in his term, and the unemployment rate worsened considerably.

Secondly, President Obarna rescued our floundering auto industry.” He actually allowed taxpayer dollars to bail out private corporations, which is not government’s job. The government’s proper role is to reward good and punish evil, not meddle in private business.

Thirdly, President Obama “strengthened border control and allowed children of immigrants born in the U.S. to remain here.” Those “strengthened” borders have not slowed illegal immigration, and allowing children of illegals to stay in the U.S. only encourages more illegal immigration.

Fourth, Mr. Ramsey states that Obamacare has extended children’s coverage and prevented insurers from denying coverage for pre-existing conditions. The Supreme Court ruled that Obamacare is a tax, and that’s an expense America can’t afford.

Fifth, “(President Obama) located and executed Osama bin Laden and fulfilled his promise to end the war in Iraq.” Not true. Navy SEALs located and took bin Laden out. and the president only pulled troops out of Iraq.

Lastly, “(President Obama) is making cars more fuel efficient, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and cutting fuel costs.”

President Obama may support those causes, but he should not he given credit for what is being done by Congress and car companies. Are we really on the right track?
