Both parties offering what they always have

| October 11, 2012 7:00 AM

What I got from the first presidential debate. Both parties are offering proposals that are pretty much what they’ve offered for the past several decades. They haven’t worked in the past and I don’t expect they will this time.

The Republicans (Mitt Romney) are proposing tax cuts for business and the wealthy as a way to start new businesses and stimulate the economy and create jobs. This hasn’t worked in the past. The American people aren’t looking for “jobs” they want careers so they can support their families. To do this the industrial infrastructure within the United States must be rebuilt and modernized.

The Democrats (Barack Obama) propose more taxes and spending to create more government and government regulations, which stifle business and economic growth. Government can’t give you anything by passing more laws. Laws are designed to limit freedoms the individual has already. The only thing different about their proposals is that they want to take money from the Medicare fund, a fund that is already in trouble, to pay for Obamacare, which is a tax, and will be used to set up another gigantic government bureaucracy to further control the lives of the individual citizen.
