Wampus Cats down Warriors
CLARK FORK — Mariah Miller served up eight aces to go with six kills, leading Clark Fork to a 25-7, 25-19, 25-19 sweep of Kootenai in the 1A Division II volleyball tournament opener on Thursday night at Clark Fork High School.
Dimi Kailang added five kills and two blocks, Autumn Wagoner four kills and two blocks, Annie Wurm 17 set assists and Heather Wold five digs for the No. 2 seed Wamups Cats (11-9), who advanced to the championship match with the win.
“We started really strong and kept the momentum,” said Cats head coach Michelle Adams. “I saw a lot from the middle tonight that I’ve been waiting to see all season. They came alive, and hopefully they’ll keep that up.”
Ellison Schultz tallied two kills, six assists and two blocks, and Brie Benson and Camille Grubham added two kills apiece for the Warriors (3-11), who saw their season come to an end with the loss.
The Wampus Cats will hit the road to face No. 1 seed Mullan (11-1) for the 1A Division II championship and lone berth to state on Saturday at noon.
