Contor holds own at district swim meet
MOSCOW — Sophomore Madison Contor finished third in the 50 free and 100 breast to lead the Bulldog swimmers at the North Idaho District Championship meet on Saturday at the University of Idaho pool. Contor also anchored the 200 medley relay team, as Shanna Crayne, Alex Krams, Cassidy Story and Contor finished fourth.
Sandpoint head coach Mike Brosnahan is hoping to take five girls and one boy to state, as Story is only one-tenth of a second from qualifying in the 50 free, and Jacob Sweezy is only one second from hitting the state qualifying time in the 100 breast.
“Very fast times posted at this district meet, with a lot of district and state record holders defending their swims,” said Bulldogs head coach Mike Brosnahan.
Clayton York, Ben Reich, Jacob Sweezy and Calvin Aerni finished 6th in the 200 medley relay and 8th in the 200 free relay to lead the Bulldog boys.
Other top 10 finished in the eight team meet included Crayne (4th 100 free, 5th 100 back), Sweezy (6th 100 breast, 10th 200 free), Story (6th 50 free, 7th 100 breast), Kaitlin Wallis (7th 500 free) and Krames (6th 100 fly, 9th 50 free).
n Krames shines at Clarkston meet
Contor won the 50 free and the 100 breast to lead the Bulldog swimmers at the Clarkston Invitational recently. Also notching top five finishes for the Bulldogs were Krames (2nd 100 fly, 3rd 200 free), Sweezy (2nd in 100 breast and 200 free), Crayne (2nd 100 back, 3rd 50 free), Wallis (3rd 50 free, 4th 200 free), Aerni (3rd 50 free, 4th 100 breast), Genevieve Price (3rd 100 back, 5th 100 free), Story (4th 50 free, 4th 100 breast) and Nikole Alamillo (4th 100 back).
The Bulldogs are at the Trick or Treat meet in Moscow this weekend. The state meet is Nov. 2 and 3 at the Boise City Aquatics Center.
