Five-year investment needed to save field
When I was playing football at War Memorial Field with a lot of friends of mine more than 50 years ago, the grandstands were new. Having your family, friends and neighbors there cheering for the home team, win or lose is important to everyone on the field.
Time wears everything out — us and grandstands.
My dad was a veteran of World War II. My brother fought in Vietnam. So did several classmates of mine. War Memorial Field is dedicated to those veterans and others like them who grew up in Sandpoint.
Veterans know that teamwork counts and Memorial Field is a place where team work is learned and practiced.
Every time you spend $100, you will be giving 50 cents to build new grandstands. Can’t we all do this for just five years?
