Marshall worked tirelessly for justice

| October 25, 2012 7:00 AM

Bonner County Prosecuting Attorney Louis Marshall played an important role in the conviction of former Sagle resident Brian Cole for the 2008 murder of Portland, Ore., resident Heather Mallory.

Shortly after murdering Heather, her husband and father of her child, Brian Cole, moved to Sagle.

In early 2010 Portland investigators and prosecutors began working closely with Marshall, his staff, the court and local enforcement investigating the case in an effort to hold Brian Cole accountable.

Marshall worked tirelessly in helping with the murder investigation and Cole’s arrest but also in arranging, but also with other Bonner County authorities to properly place Heather’s young child with his maternal grandparents.

The professionalism, work ethic, character and empathy that Marshall exhibited is a tribute to the Bonner County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. One year after Cole’s June 2010 arrest, he was convicted of murdering Heather. In July 2011, Brian Cole was sentenced to life in prison by an Oregon court.

Heather’s young son is now being raised by his two loving grandparents, Heather’s mom and dad.

All of us owe thanks to Louis Marshall for his help.
