Sandpoint sophomores score blowout win over Clarkston
CLARKSTON, Wash. — The Sandpoint sophomore football team ran up 245 yards of offense and four scores, all in the first quarter, en route to a convincing 41-7 road win over Clarkston on Monday night.
Quarterback Nate Loutzenhiser led with the passing attack by connecting on 12-18 passes for 207 yards and three touchdowns, all in the first half.
On the receiving end of those passes were Mathew Timothy, who caught five balls for 88 yards and two scores, Jean-Luc Anderson, who hauled in two catches for 54 yards and a score, Brandon Carlin with 40 yards on three catches and Mathew Knott with a 22-yard grab.
Gabe Lutz and Curtis Roop pounded it on the ground behind stellar offensive line play. Lutz ran for 125 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries while Roop went 60 yards on 10 carries.
In the middle of the third quarter Jackson Russo took over at quarterback and completed a five-yard pass. Alex O’Shea ran for 68 yards and a score on nine carries, and David Till kept up the ground attack by churning out 17 yards on seven carries.
The defense came up big with tackles for losses and batted passes all game long, holding Clarkston to 172 yards of total offense. The Bulldogs offense cranked out 467 yards of total offense in a strong showing.
The Bulldogs host Lakeland on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Barlow Stadium in the final game of the season.
