Mayor's apology was sadly lacking
Recently, Sandpoint Mayor Marsha Ogilvie took a stroll through the concession stand at our beautiful City Beach.
During this visit she was rude and obnoxious to the young ladies that were working that day. Her behavior was so ridiculous toward these ladies that they felt they had no other option but to contact their direct supervisor asking for help while the mayor continued to belittle them. All of them were shaken up and upset over this incident.
Thankfully, the supervisor intervened and an apology from the mayor was to be issued to each young lady. I was furious about the entire ordeal but decided to simmer down once I knew the mayor would be apologizing.
Well, I’ve read the so-called apology letter and it is indeed lacking. The letter was nothing more than Marsha’s justification for her rude behavior. No apology.
In my opinion there is no justification for this and she should be ashamed of her actions. What a terrible role model for the young citizens of Sandpoint as well as a dreadful campaign strategy since these young people will be able to vote in the next mayoral election.
The irony of the situation, earlier this summer Marsha met with one of the young ladies and presented her with a certificate for her kindness, leadership and community involvement. Needless to say, it doesn’t mean much now since our own city representative doesn’t abide by her own words. Poor form, Marsha, very poor.
