Bulldogs looking to end losing streak to Trojans
SANDPOINT — Sandpoint head coach Satini Puailoa would love to be concerned with Post Falls, Sandpoint’s opponent tonight, but he’s far more concerned with the football players wearing Bulldog red.
“It’s Sandpoint vs. Sandpoint,” said Puailoa of the focus on tonight’s game. “We need to do the things that we need to do.”
Puailoa has preached the mantra of getting better every day, and nothing changes when Post Falls invades Barlow Stadium tonight, looking to extend a streak. The Trojans (0-1) have won the past six games against the Bulldogs (0-1), after Sandpoint had won the previous eight.
Post Falls, which likes to throw and will feature an assortment of blitzes under defensive coordinator and former Sandpoint head coach Sean Dorris, lost 27-17 last week to Graham-Kapowsin of Washington.
While Sandpoint lost 42-14 to East Valley, there were a lot of things to build on after the coaching staff watched the tape. The offense ran up more than 300 total yards and didn’t allow a sack, but still felt like it was a poor performance.
Puailoa was happy with the open field tackling of the defense and the pass protection of the offensive line in defeat, and expects some improvement tonight.
“We did some good things (last week), but not enough,” he said. “We need to play with the same amount of effort, and up the execution.”
Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Barlow Stadium.
