How about some fiscal responsibility?

| September 11, 2012 7:00 AM

I don’t usually comment about politics, but ...

The Democrats complain that government it spending too much. Republicans complain that government is spending too much. Who authorizes the expenditures of the government? Our senators and representatives, that’s who. How about some fiscal responsibility on the part of the people that are supposed to be representing us?

Democrats say “He’s a Republican and I don’t agree with a thing he says.” Republicans say “He’s a Democrat and I don’t agree with a thing he says.” What ever happened to “You know, I think you do have one or two good ideas. Let’s get together and see if we can’t agree on enough points to make this work?” Why not agree on what is best for the majority of the people?

Right now our politicians are too cuddly with the big corporations and big money people to think about representing us. If the big corporations would reduce the prices of their goods with the money they give the PACs, more people could afford to buy those goods.

Add to this mix all the things we ask the government to do for us and it’s all out of control. We have a disaster and we immediately declare an emergency so we can get federal assistance. If Arizona has a disaster and Idaho sent a million dollars to them without going through Washington, D.C., Arizona would get a million dollars, not just the piece left over after Washington skimmed off their big chunk.
