Levora breaks own school records at Silverwood
SANDPOINT — The 2012 Sandpoint cross country team continues to leave its mark on the school record book, as junior Sam Levora lowered his own record by clocking a 15:48 to finish fourth at the Silverwood Coaster Cross on Saturday.
The boys team finished 14th among 35 teams in attendance, including many of the 5A powers from the southern part of the state.
Mikhaela Woodward also posted a season best, finishing the 5K race in 20:22 to finish 25th overall. The time moved her up to No. 8 on the school’s all time list, two seconds ahead of Molly Burgstahler, who is currently running in college.
Sydney Foster finished in 20:40, which was good enough for 31st place and No. 13 on the Bulldogs’ all-time list of times. The Bulldog girls finished a respectable 7th as a team.
Four former Bulldogs are also running this fall in college, including Danny Pfeifer, who is redshirting during the fall cross country season at Montana State, Evan Rains at Viterbo University in Wisconsin, Burgstahler at St. Scholastica and Jenny Van Ooyen, who is a freshman at Saint Lawrence in New York.
• Clark Fork runners set personal bests
Clark Fork sophomore Megan Frazier clocked a 22:37 to finish 78th, and junior Desiree Westphall a 23:55 to finish 118th at the Coaster Cross on Saturday.
The Wampus Cats were one of only four 1A schools competing in the meet, getting a chance to compete against some of the top runners in the state. The high level of competition fueled Frazier and Westphall, both of whom set personal best times.
