SANDPOINT — There’s a new set of owners at the helm of Unicep Packaging, Inc.

A company founded by local dentist John Snedden, Unicep manufactures and packages several health and cosmetic products and employs about 150 people. The company is under new hands after its sale last week to Marcus Anderson and Clint Marshall.

“Clint and I have always had our hearts set on owning our own business,” Anderson said. “Unicep was perfectly placed for us, with a great clientele and philosophy, and plenty of opportunities for the future.”

Thanks to the pioneering done by Snedden, Unicep found a niche in the oral health care, in-vitro-diagnostic, over-the-counter and cosmetic markets with its innovative dispensers, including the MicroDose and the Twist-Tip.

With patents and equipment fueling business across locations in Sandpoint and Liberty Lake, Wash., Anderson and Marshall saw the investment as a sound one for future growth. They also had plenty of time to grasp the nature of the business. Anderson was company president and Marshall was CFO at Unicep Packaging, Inc., prior to the sale.

“Over the past five years, we’ve been learning everything there is to know about the business,” Marshall said. “We’re excited about taking Unicep to the next level.”

According to their expectations, there’s ample room to expand into new markets and greater profitability. The two are eager to explore those opportunities as they complete the transition into their new status.

Both Anderson and Marshall have plenty of experience to call upon as new owners. Marshall began as an auditor with Coopers and Lybrand in Spokane before preparing the company Telect for an IPO. As for Anderson, he has accumulated more than 20 years in production and manufacturing management. Mostly recently, he worked as Telect director of global operations, overseeing plants in America, China, Mexico and Poland.

However, the Unicep sale might not have been possible if not for Panhandle State Bank Regional President Joe Williams, who facilitated the transaction. Using his financial expertise, Williams brought business to a happy conclusion for everyone involved.

“No way could this have happened without the persistence of Joe Williams at Panhandle State Bank,” Snedden said.
