PONDERAY — Drivers through Ponderay should show extra caution beginning next week in light of maintenance projects that could impact traffic flow.

From this Sunday until next Sunday, Kootenai Cutoff road resurfacing may prompt minor delays between Panhandle State Bank and the railroad tracks while equipment works directly in front of a driveway. Beginning Sunday, workers will focus on striping tabs before moving to the chip seal on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, the project moves to brooming. The focus shifts to the fog seal on Thursday and Friday before returning to striping on Saturday and Sunday.

The chip seal, brooming and fog seal phases will be completed in three parts, with two-way traffic available at all times.

In addition, Bonner Mall Way flood repairs and catch basin installation occur until Wednesday from the East Gate stop sign to the southeast mall parking entrance. In the coming week, the project will focus on paving. Drivers can expect lane narrowing for the duration of work along Bonner Mall Way and East Gate, but two-way traffic will be maintained for most times. Flaggers will direct traffic when it narrows to one lane only.
