Bulldogs, Timberwolves tie

| September 19, 2012 7:00 AM

COEUR d’ALENE — Jake Rookey stopped five shots to notch his fifth shutout on the season, but the Bulldogs offense couldn’t muster a goal, leading to a 0-0 tie with Lake City on Tuesday in nonleague soccer at the Irma Anderl Soccer Complex.

Tanner Horton had six saves for the Timberwolves (4-4-1), stopping the lone good look mustered by the Bulldogs (7-3-1) in a match only a soccer purist could love.

“It was kind of a weird match,” Lake City coach Chad Beadell said. “They’d go at us and we’d go at them. Aaron Crossingham had a good shot for them, but Tanner made a great save. It was a good, hard-fought match.”

Sandpoint is at Coeur d’Alene on Thursday in the third meeting of the season between the two teams.

First half — none. Second half — none.

Shots on goal — Spt 6, LC 5.

Saves — Spt, Jake Rookey, 5; LC, Tanner Horton, 6.
