Report possible scams to law enforcement
Yesterday, while in the midst of canning, the telephone rang. A young, horse and weeping voice said: “Grandma, this is your grandson!” The story I was told was so believable, I was immediately in tears … his school buddy had been killed in an auto accident — and then the gut kicker came, he needed cash for travel expenses — not!
Well, yours truly came unglued, and the voice on the other end of the telephone received a thorough tongue lashing — and a report to our local police department!
Beware, evidently there are some out there, instead of plying their “intelligence” to more productive activities, are content to prey on our emotions for a free meal. Illegal beggars.
If you receive such a message, report it immediately to our local police department at 265-5525. Unfortunately there is not much that can be done, but perhaps knowing our community is aware of their illegal activities, they will be less likely to ply their trade locally.
Almost a victim,
