SHS swims to second-place at meet

SANDPOINT — Alex Krames won the 100 butterfly, Madi Contor the 100 free, Shanna Crayne the 100 back and Cassidy Story the 100 breast to lead the Sandpoint girls swim team to a second place finish in a home-opening meet on Wednesday at the SWAC.

Despite having only 13 girls on the team, the Bulldogs were only seven points behind Lake City, which had more than 30 swimmers.

“They (Lake City) did the old Sandpoint switch,” said Bulldogs head coach Mike Brosnahan, alluding to the fact that it used to be his team with the bigger numbers. “Shanna and Madi both dropped times and swam really fast. The whole team dropped time and had no DQ’s. The entire team had a flawless performance.”

Kaitlin Wallis, Genevieve Price, Mary Kovalchuk, Nikole Alamillo, Amanda Jordan and Galen May also registered top five finishes for the Bulldog girls.

Jacob Sweezey won the 200 free and finished third in the 100 breast to lead the small boys team, which finished fourth. Calvin Aerni also posted two top five finishes for the boys team.
