Bulldogs lose 4-1 to Post Falls

| September 23, 2012 7:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Sandpoint head coach Adam Tajan knew heading into the game that Post Falls scoring machine Timmy Meuller would be handful for his defenders to mark, and that proved to be the case on Saturday in nonleague boys soccer at Centennial Field.

Meuller notched a hat trick in the first half, leading the Trojans (10-1) to a 4-1 win over the Bulldogs (7-4-2) in a game that was essentially over halfway through the first half.

“Timmy is just a finisher, you give him a chance and he takes care of business. He’s big, fast and strong, and difficult to contain,” said Tajan of Meuller. “It wasn’t our best performance. We just have to get ready for Lakeland on Thursday, that’s the bottom line.”

Joab Logan finished an assist from Logan Broehl for the Bulldogs’ lone goal, which cut the lead to 2-1 in the 18th minute, but Meuller had an answer six minutes later on a feed from Brady Ulen, who also scored in the second half.

Sandpoint is at Lakeland on Thursday in a big 4A North clash.
