What do the sheriff's candidates stand for?

I had a candidate for sheriff knock on my door last week to introduce himself. He seemed very well informed, and outlined a list of questions concerning the current Bonner County Sheriff’s Office. These were disconcerting to say the least. I told him that as I am new to Sandpoint, I would have to find out a lot more before making a decision. So I put it out to those who are up on the issues:

1. Who are the candidates for sheriff and what are their platforms?

2. Are there concerns about the sheriff’s department that have lingered as was suggested to me by the candidate?

3. Does the sheriff serve the citizens of the county as they would expect?
