TULSA, Okla. — Anthony “Rumble” Johnson used a flurry of strikes and kicks to beat Jake Rosholt in the main event of Xtreme Fight Night 9 Friday night before a packed house at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tulsa, Okla.

Rosholt, a former Sandpoint state champion and Oklahoma State All-American wrestler, held his own in the first round, as the two former UFC fighters stayed on their feet for most of the round.

Johnson (13-4) began to land some punches in the second round, opening up some cuts on Rosholt (12-5), whose face was bloodied for most of the round. Finally a sweeping kick to the head buckled Rosholt’s legs, and the fight was stopped at the end of round two.

Despite a superior wrestling background, Rosholt was never able to take Johnson to the mat. Rosholt tried a handful of guillotine attempts, but was unable to lock one in.

Johnson is now 3-0 since being cut from the UFC after missing weight.Rosholt is still looking to make another run at the UFC, but will need a few solid wins to earn his way back after going 1-2 in his first stint, including a big win over Chris Leben.

Former Sandpoint and Portland State wrestler Chris Feist fought on Saturday in the Premier Fight Series 2 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Feist, who fights with Jake and Jared Rosholt on Team Takedown, ran his record to a perfect 5-0 by stopping Micah Franks (3-2) via Technical Knockout due to strikes.
