Simple solution will fix election system

| September 25, 2012 7:00 AM

What is wrong with our presidential election system and how to fix it.

1. The outcome is determined by a few swing states. Residents of the remaining states are disenfranchised. It should not matter in which state you reside. The Electoral College should be replaced by proportional representation so that each vote counted regardless of where you live.

2. Presidential campaigns are much too long and should be limited to six weeks before the election.

3. The president should spend all his time governing and not raising funds and campaigning. He should have one term of six years, such as in Mexico.
