SHS girls claim 4-0 win

| September 28, 2012 9:00 PM

SANDPOINT — Fittingly, it was a pair of seniors who scored the first two goals of Sandpoint’s 4-0 blanking of Lakeland on Tuesday night in 4A North girls soccer action at War Memorial Field.

The Bulldogs (9-2-3, 3-0 4A IEL) celebrated Senior Night in style with a league championship-sealing win, as Bailey Scrimsher and Meghan Pagano scored first half goals, finishing off two of Emma Weme’s three assists on the night. The Bulldogs earned the right to host the district tournament with the win.

Kaylee Kiebert scored on a bending kick from 15 yards out in late in the second half and junior Sierra Scott returned from injury to score her second goal on the year, bringing a presence to the attack.

“I’m really happy with Sierra, she’s very dynamic up front for us,” said Bulldogs coach Conor Baranski, who called his six seniors a fun-loving group. “They have fun at what they’re doing and it makes it fun for everyone else.”

Angelique Weatherelt made several nice saves in goal for the Hawks (4-9, 0-3 4A IEL). Makayla Sundquist notched her sixth shutout of the season in goal for the Bulldogs.
